| http://www.shannon-fishery-board.ie/guides/coarse/bylaws_guide.htm while fishing the lough recently ,i watched a man set up a single rod cast out what looked to me a method feeder and lay his rod on the path,i then got a run and after the usual he asked he why i did not keep the fish,we struck up a conversation and it was oblivious to me that while this man loved and was very knowledgeable on fishing ,he genuinely did not know the bylaws or code of ethics under which we operate ,itried to explain and as his english was better than my russian he got the jist of it,he reeled in his rod and his rig consisted of his mainline connected to a 2" long spring which he moulded the feed, from this spring was tide four 3" pieces of braid with a size 10 on each ,these are then buried in the method mix,oh shock horror i hear u say,but this is the common practiced method in his country, again he accepted that his methods could not be used here and i showed him a few rigs, after i got home i was thinking of our meeting and realised that there are genuine foreign fishermen in this country who want to learn, thats why i think people should perhaps think of clicking on the above link, get the little booklet, stick it in your tackle bag and youd never know it might help with the language barrier . _________________ it is better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt-mark twain

| We cant even educate the trout and sammon anglers inthis country, in fact is the western fisherys board still gill netting in the corrib and mask, so what hope have we on converting fn's. |

| we can but try niall, ive seen it all by now and have often lost all heart, but incidents like with that lad on the lock can renew faith,im not on any crusade but if a lad approaches me ill try to point him in the right direction, a man once asked,"how would you eat an elephant" his answer was "one bite at a time" _________________ it is better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt-mark twain

| sorry 2 say Bud but the most of them dont give 2 dams what the laws are there just interested in what financial gain they can get, like Niall said we cant educate trout and salmon anglers and theres no hope of educating fn's,its just like peeing against the wind no matter what way u look at it. |

| i remember when i was about 5 or 6 seen countless big dead pike on the shores of blesso .at the pike comp`s. that was 25 to 27 years ago. i have talked to some of the men that were at these comp`s.nowadays they all give out about the fn`s . irish people find it hard to believe that in them days very little went back. i remember been shown how to set night lines, how to make otter boards. when people used to catch their legal limit of six trout and then hid them in the forest and catch another six and do the same. i agree with bud c . we can`t watch this people 24/7 365 day`s the best thing to do is get them on our side. i will not happen over night |

| Not all Fn's are killing every thing they see. I would prefer to have 1 fn on our side than none at all. _________________ One Depressed Carper............

| i agree natas that there not all killing everything they see and its better 2 have 1 on ourside than not but most of the 1's ive meet or seen are only out for 1 reason and dont care what anyone says or care about any laws that in place, but i think things will get worse before they get better. |

| I am aware we cannot tar them all the fn's with the same brush . But the majority of the fillthy B@st@&ds dont give 2 ducks about fish rules or heritage . They are slowly draining our waters of stock and it annoys me to the soul . |

| was thinking about my annual trip to the emerald isle, yep youve got problems in ireland, dont believe for one minute its confined to the influx of foriegners, you irish boys have being moving bloody carp around for years, there both equally bad, johnny pole steals a carp for the table 1 ,carp angler moves carp which is infected, to a new water, which one will do more damage, kettle and pot come to mind,in truth your all so self righteous, all this site does is fns fns fns fns,if your own fishery board, governing body werent sat with there heads up there arses, they would be able to see whats going on,maybe a good starting piont might be with the so called carpers, who spend all there time on here preaching crap and false innuendo, you might just see the bigger picture, clueless and balless, and a sad reflection on irish angling:bounce: |
