Hi Guys
We are naturally very sorry that Long Lake is flooded, but it is the only sensible decision to offer an alternative venue. Imagine turning up to an unfishable venue...
On the other hand Grosley is a lovely venue, the owner Eric is a carp angler and is really friendly. There is a superb restaurant on site too. I visited the venue recently with Bridget and we ate in the place, very good food.
I have some more photos in a zip file...I'll sent them to Tom..

Info I have is that the fish were shoaled up around the islands and margins in recent weeks and that northing much was coming from open water. Some firends of mine had a difficult week early March but still managed 25 carp between the two of them. Best fish went 40lb 2oz. Last report I heard yesterday from the owner when I was trying to sort your trip was that three French lads had 16 fish last weekend...
The big lake has bigger carp but lower density. The small lake has more fish mostly in the Long Lake size ie 15-25lb. He stocked a batch of fish upto mid 30's in January.. Check my video on the blog.

Your bait is being sorted and sent out, I will check but he was opening a tackle shop on site too. If this is up and running he'll have more bait and gear available that was not possible on the other venue.
AsI say this really is a cracking looking venue, new to us so we don't have a full service histroy but it certainly has some nice carp to upper 40's.

If you have any queries let me know.
Cheers
Gareth

Checked out as much as I can about this place - the small lake could be a bit like long lake as a runs water and the bigger lake has some bigger fish so this should keep everyones tastes happy I suppose.

With the weather we are having I don't think anywhere is going to be red hot at the min so we gonna have to make the best of what we can...

At least the facilities at this new place are better developed so could help with the forecast etc and food and bar Laughing Laughing Laughing

See if we can get any more up to date reports are there are a couple of lads on the lake at the min....

Hi there

Baitbaots can be used on the venue, last time I was there he had no boats for hire. Rowing boats are not allowed on the lake however.

The island is spodable and castable from the nearest pegs.. 120 yards from bank and about 114 from the other... As I said my tactic would be to try the margins as being a gravel pit these are fairly deep in places.

cheers
Gareth

the one thing that worries me is that there is someone on every swim that a lot of lines in the water the fish might think to hell with this and stop feeding

first off thanks to gareth for the info, going by what we know given the short space of time had.I think if we keep a positive outlook, and use the right tactics,we can still make a go of a good trip.my personal idea would be to attack the bar from all sides so as not to let a drop escape.theres enough of us to split into a few groups, pre bait the bar with fivers, and lay a bed of cheese and onion, and scattered peanuts....lets make the best of it lads.tight lines and wet sacks.see you tomorrow. lol! lol!
